WebP to PNG Converter — Keep Transparency
Browser-based WebP to PNG converter that keeps transparency, for logos and stickers
Runs in your browser · nothing is uploaded
Drop WebP files here
Convert up to 50 WebP files at once to PNG, up to 50 MB each. You can also choose files or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac). Files never leave your browser.
Conversion settings
Transparency in a WebP survives the move to PNG. Animated WebP files keep only their first frame.
PNG is saved losslessly, with no quality loss. The file can be larger than a JPG.
EXIF data (camera, time, GPS location) is not carried over to the converted file. The photo orientation is applied.
Why turn a WebP into a PNG
Stickers, logos and icons downloaded from the web are often WebP. The format can carry a transparent background in a small file, but some older paint, design and video editors cannot open it. PNG keeps transparency and opens in nearly every program, so converting is the safe move before editing or compositing. The files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. You can add 50 at a time and download a ZIP.
How to use
- Add WebP files by dragging them onto the dashed area or with Choose WebP files.
- The result is a lossless PNG with transparency untouched. To reduce the dimensions, choose Limit long edge and enter a pixel value.
- If size matters, tick Shrink PNG size (256 colors).
- Grab the results with the card buttons, or take everything in one ZIP. Example:
sticker.webpbecomessticker.png.
Conversion rules
- Transparency: the alpha channel is kept, including semi-transparent shadows and soft edges.
- Lossless saving: no color reduction unless you turn it on.
- Animated WebP: a single still, the first frame, is written.
- File size: a lossy WebP usually grows a lot as PNG. For photos, JPG is the better target.
- Metadata: EXIF and similar extras are not carried over.
Quick reference
| Source | Result as PNG |
|---|---|
| Lossless WebP | Identical pixels |
| Lossy WebP | Today’s quality preserved, lost detail not restored |
| WebP with transparent background | Transparency kept |
| Animated WebP | One still, the first frame |
To shrink a PNG back into WebP use the PNG to WebP converter, and for photos see WebP to JPG.
FAQ
Is the transparent background preserved?
Yes. PNG supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas of a WebP stay transparent instead of turning white or black. If you do not need transparency, WebP to JPG gives a much smaller file.
Do lossless and lossy WebP files behave differently?
A lossless WebP converts to PNG with identical pixels. A lossy WebP already lost some detail, and saving it as PNG cannot bring that back, so the file may simply get larger.
What happens to an animated WebP?
Only the first frame is saved as a single PNG. It is not turned into an animated PNG or a GIF, and the card tells you only the first frame was converted.
The PNG is large. Can I shrink it?
Turn on Shrink PNG size (256 colors). Logos and flat artwork barely change, while photos and gradients may look coarser. The default is lossless.
My editor cannot open WebP. Will PNG work?
Yes, it is the safe choice. Almost every editor supports it, and transparency is kept, which helps when compositing.
