Image Resizer — Resize Photos by Pixels or %
Browser-based image resizer with pixel, percent and long-edge modes and social platform presets
Runs in your browser · nothing is uploaded
Drop the images to resize here
Add up to 50 JPG, PNG or WebP images at once, up to 50 MB each. You can also choose files or copy an image and paste it with Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac). Images never leave your browser.
Platforms change their recommended sizes now and then. Check the service's current guide before you upload.
With the aspect lock on you can fill in just one side. With both filled, the image is scaled to fit inside that box.
Applies to JPG and WebP. Around 90 shows almost no visible loss after resizing.
Re-saving removes the EXIF data inside a photo (camera, time, GPS location).
What it is
An image resizer changes the number of pixels in a photo or graphic. Phone photos are often over 4000 pixels wide, so shrinking them to a sensible size before posting makes uploads faster and pages lighter. Everything runs in your browser, so the images stay on your device, and you can process up to 50 files at once and download them as a single ZIP.
How to use
- Drop images on the dashed area, press Choose images, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac).
- Pick Resize by: Pixels (type width and height), Percent (relative to the original), or Long edge (set only the longer side).
- In Pixels mode, choose a Platform preset to fill in the size and fit method. For anything without a fixed size, such as a blog, use Custom size.
- When the photo’s ratio differs from the target, choose Crop to fill, Add padding or Stretch. Padding lets you pick the background color.
- Choose the output format (keep original, JPG, PNG, WebP) and quality, then download each card or use Download all (ZIP). Changing a setting rebuilds the results automatically.
How sizes are calculated
- Pixels with the aspect lock on: type only a width and the height follows the ratio. Type both and the image is scaled to the largest size that fits inside that box.
- Pixels with the lock off: width and height become exactly what you typed. If the ratios differ, the chosen fit method applies.
- Percent: width and height are both multiplied by the same factor and rounded to whole pixels. 50 means half, 200 means double.
- Long edge: the longer side is set to your value and the shorter side follows the ratio, so portrait and landscape photos in one batch get the same treatment.
- Never enlarge beyond the original: when on, a target bigger than the original leaves the size as it is.
- File names include the result size, for example
photo-1080x1080.jpg. - Metadata: the image is re-saved, so EXIF including GPS is removed, and the stored rotation is applied.
Platform presets
| Preset | Size | Default fit |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram square | 1080×1080 | Crop to fill |
| Instagram portrait | 1080×1350 | Crop to fill |
| Instagram story | 1080×1920 | Crop to fill |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280×720 | Crop to fill |
| Facebook link image | 1200×630 | Crop to fill |
| X header | 1500×500 | Crop to fill |
| LinkedIn banner | 1584×396 | Crop to fill |
These are commonly used recommended sizes collected for convenience; they are not certified by the platforms. Platforms revise their guidance now and then, so check each service’s current help page before uploading. Banner and header areas also hide parts of the image on some screens, so keep faces and text away from the edges.
Examples
| Situation | Suggested setting |
|---|---|
| Square post for Instagram | Preset 1080×1080, Crop to fill |
| Wide photo inside a tall frame, nothing cut off | Add padding with a white background |
| Half-size copies for email | Percent 50 |
| A batch with mixed orientations | Long edge 1920 |
| Make sure small images are not blown up | Turn on “Never enlarge” |
If you also need to hit a file size in KB, resize first and then run the result through the Image Compressor.
FAQ
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens entirely inside your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Only the files you download end up on your device.
Are the preset sizes official?
No. They are commonly used recommended sizes, not values the platforms have certified. Platforms change layouts and guidelines from time to time, so check the service's current help page before you upload, and use Custom size if it says something different.
What is the difference between Crop to fill, Add padding and Stretch?
They decide what happens when the photo and the target have different aspect ratios. Crop to fill trims the overflow around the center so the frame is completely filled. Add padding keeps the whole photo and fills the leftover area with the color you pick. Stretch ignores the ratio and squeezes the photo into the frame, which can distort people and text.
Does enlarging a photo make it sharper?
No. Enlarging invents pixels that were never there, so the result looks softer. The tool shows a warning on the card when an image was enlarged, and "Never enlarge beyond the original" prevents it. For large uses, start from a larger original.
Does resizing remove GPS location from my photos?
Yes. The image is redrawn and saved as a new file, so EXIF data such as camera, time and GPS location is dropped. The rotation stored in phone photos is applied first, so the picture keeps its orientation.
Can I set the file size in KB?
This tool changes pixel dimensions, which usually lowers the file size a lot but does not hit an exact number of KB. If a site has a size limit, resize first and then use the Image Compressor to reach a target size.
