What it is
A Lorem Ipsum generator produces placeholder text for mockups, templates, themes and print layouts. Real copy distracts reviewers from the design, while filler lets them focus on type, spacing and rhythm. This generator builds text from the classic Lorem Ipsum vocabulary. You choose how much you need in paragraphs, sentences or words, and copy it with one click. A switch wraps each paragraph in a p element so you can paste straight into HTML.
How to use
- Choose a unit: paragraphs, sentences or words.
- Type how many you want. The maximum depends on the unit.
- Keep Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet on if you want the traditional opening, or turn it off for fully random text.
- Turn on Wrap in p tags to get one p element per paragraph, each on its own line.
- Press Copy. Use Regenerate for a different arrangement of the same vocabulary.
How it works
- Limits: 1 to 100 paragraphs, 1 to 500 sentences, 1 to 5,000 words. Empty or out-of-range values are adjusted to the nearest valid number when you leave the field.
- Paragraphs contain three to six sentences. In sentence mode all sentences share one paragraph, and in word mode the output is a single run that ends with a period.
- Sentences pick six to fourteen words from about sixty classic Lorem Ipsum words. Longer sentences get one comma, the first letter is capitalized and a period ends the sentence.
- Seeded randomness: Regenerate changes the seed. The same seed always produces the same text, so changing the count only extends or trims what you already have, and toggling the p tags never changes the words.
- Counter: the numbers above the output count words and characters of the plain text, without the HTML tags.

What is Lorem Ipsum?
It is scrambled Latin used as filler so people judge a layout instead of reading the copy. The wording traces back to a passage by Cicero, which is in the public domain, and the standard filler has been used by printers and designers for a very long time.
Does the text mean anything?
No. The words are Latin-looking but arranged randomly, so the sentences carry no meaning. That is the point of filler text. Replace it with real copy before publishing.
Why does the first sentence always look the same?
By convention Lorem Ipsum begins with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. The option is on by default so your output matches what other designers expect. Turn it off to get fully randomized text from the first sentence.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The text is generated in your browser and never uploaded.
