Results
Pick credits and a grade for each course to see your GPA right away.
For reference only. GPA is rounded half-up to two decimals (some schools truncate). Grade replacement for retakes, credit forgiveness and graduation requirements are not included. Check your school’s records for the official GPA.
What it is
A GPA calculator for one semester or your whole record. Add a course, choose its credits and a letter grade from A+ to F or pass/no-pass, and it updates your cumulative GPA and your major GPA right away. Pick a 4.0, 4.3 or 4.5 scale; the common grade-point tables are prefilled and you can edit any value if your school uses different ones. It also shows your GPA converted proportionally to the other scales as a reference, and if you know your school’s percentage formula you can enter it to get a percentage. Courses are saved in this browser only, so you can come back and keep adding.
How to use
- Choose the 4.0, 4.3 or 4.5 scale and edit the grade points if your school differs.
- For each course, set the credits and the grade. Tick Major for major courses to get a major GPA.
- Use Add course for more rows and the × button to remove a row.
- Read the cumulative GPA, major GPA, credits counted and credits earned.
- Check the converted values or enter your school’s formula for a percentage.
How it works
- GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits), rounded half-up to two decimals.
- 4.5 scale: A+ 4.5, A 4.0, B+ 3.5, B 3.0, C+ 2.5, C 2.0, D+ 1.5, D 1.0, F 0.
- 4.3 scale: A+ 4.3, A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C- 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D- 0.7, F 0. The 4.0 scale differs only in A+ = 4.0.
- P/NP: P adds earned credits only, NP is ignored, and F counts as 0 points in the average.
- Conversion: GPA ÷ current maximum × target maximum, for reference only.
Examples
| Course | Credits | Grade | Points × credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Major 1 | 3 | A+ (4.5) | 13.5 |
| Major 2 | 3 | B+ (3.5) | 10.5 |
| Elective | 2 | C (2.0) | 4.0 |
28.0 ÷ 8 credits = 3.50 on the 4.5 scale, about 3.34 on the 4.3 scale and 3.11 on the 4.0 scale.
For reference only — check your school’s records for the official GPA.
FAQ
How is GPA calculated?
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them all up and divide by the total credits. Three credits of A+ at 4.5, three of B+ at 3.5 and two of C at 2.0 give (13.5 + 10.5 + 4.0) ÷ 8 = 3.50. The result is rounded half-up to two decimals; some schools truncate instead.
How do the 4.0, 4.3 and 4.5 tables differ?
The 4.5 scale uses half-point steps and has no minus grades, for example A+ 4.5, A 4.0, B+ 3.5. The 4.3 scale runs A+ 4.3, A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, and the 4.0 scale gives A+ the same 4.0 as A. These are the commonly used tables; schools differ, so every value is editable.
How are P, NP and F counted?
P (pass) adds to credits earned but is left out of the average. NP counts for neither. F is averaged in at 0 points and earns no credits.
Is the scale conversion exact?
No, it is a proportional reference. A 3.5 on the 4.5 scale becomes about 3.34 on the 4.3 scale. A graduate school or employer may use its own official table. For a percentage, enter your school’s rule as slope and intercept (GPA × slope + intercept).
Where are my courses stored?
Only in this browser’s localStorage, never on a server. They will not appear on another device or in a private window, and clearing browser data removes them. Clear all courses empties the list immediately.
